Located in the capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, the Holiday Inn is in the city centre amongst the skyscrapers pictured opposite. Very much a businessmen's hotel with 152 rooms and business centre, this large hotel serves as the perfect transit base in Dar before heading out on safari or the islands.
With its friendly efficient staff and long list of facilities, we rate this as the best hotel in Dar and recommend that all customers who need to overnight in this city use it as their base
The Holiday Inn Dar es Salaam serves breakfast in our Kivulini restaurant overlooking the hotels outdoor pool and the botanical Gardens. The Kivulini also serves sumptuous lunch and dinner buffets with a famous stir fry section. Adjacent to the swimming pool The Baraza Cafe Bar and Grill is also available for Lunch's and dinners with a menu specialising in Swahili fusion food. The sophisticated up market African décor with its unique Tanzanian feel and traditional Zanzibar doors makes the 'Baraza' the place to be seen in Dar.

The Hotel is 14 kms from Dar es Salaam International Airport. The hotel's neighbours include the diplomatic corps numerous NGO's & government offices and international corporations. The Aga Khan Hospital is also close by.
Central Dar is a noisy hectic kind of place. As the capital and the most affulent part of Tanzania, the roads are well laid out and signposted, which certainly helps when you see the wild ... for Africa that is ... traffic and driving. Dar having been westernised to a great extent lacks the clash of old and new African culture that is so interesting, in other towns in Tanzania and Zanzibar, but certainly makes up for this with noise and frenetic activity.
If you are arriving into Dar airport or port, the best way to get to the hotel is to take a taxi. The cost is about $15 from the airport and $10 from the port if you negotiate the price in advance

This large five story hotel with 152 rooms, two restaurants, bar swimming pool and fitness centre is, as we have said before, the best hotel in Dar. As part of the worldwide Holiday Inn brand it has the usual standards mixed with the delightful friendliness of the Tanzanian staff.
The lobby is an stylish high ceiling glass fronted affair with bubbling central fountain, pictured opposite, and staffed with doorman dressed in sultanic garb. Just off the lobby are the restaurants, bar and business centre all on the ground floor. All the rooms are located on the second to fifth floor and are reached by elevator.
The main areas of the hotel are quite stylish and modern. With the slate floors, airconditioning and plants dotted around the overall atmosphere is that of a shady retreat.
