Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge is perched on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment with one of the greatest views over the Great Rift Valley and its soda lake. It is difficult to imagine a more spectacular setting.

The lake is renowned among ornithologists for its birds of prey and the famous tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland that nestles between the lake and the Rift Valley.

The lodge glows with tranquillity and peace. The design was inspired by the area’s abundant bird life: swooping curves are complemented by soft, geometric patterns and stylish plaster mouldings adorn the walls. Accommodation and public areas are housed in individual thatched circular buildings and are a tribute to local architectural traditions.

There are international flights from Europe and South Africa to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airports. Twice-daily scheduled flights from Arusha Airport to Manyara airstrip, followed by a leisurely 2.5-hour game drive to the Lodge. The road between Arusha and Lake Manyara National Park is in excellent condition and a road transfer from Arusha to the Park gates is only 1.5 hours. We can pre-book and package all of your regional/internal flights and transfers, and provide a meet and greet service at all airports.

Activities, which are one of the lodge’s specialities, include daily excursions to the Great Rift Valley and National Park, walking safaris, mountain bike and canoe safaris, mountain climbing, nature walks and traditional dance performances in the evenings. The lodge is a favourite of young clients seeking adventure activities and of those looking for a safari experience that is different from the usual one and which brings the visitors into close contact with nature and wildlife.

The full-service lounge and bar serves fresh fruit juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee, cocktails, wines, spirits and liqueurs. With their graceful domed ceilings, curved walls and colourful murals, the guest lounge is the ideal venue to relax after safari or before and after meals. Both areas offer terrace seating with breathtaking views over Lake Manyara. There is also a swimming pool with vanishing horizon to Lake Manyara and a pool bar and pool viewing platform.
