The Plantation Lodge is surrounded by coffee plantations and the famous Green Hills of Africa that Hemingway found so inspiring.

From your verandah you have a view of a romantic park - nejoy the luxuriant colors and fragrant block. Walk underneath the avacado and eucalyptus trees and listen to the various voices of over 40 different domestic birds.

Observe the snuglling geckos doing their mating dance or the crackling geese on the morning bath.

This lodge has a very personal touch to it. From the minute you walk in, you are pampered by the local staff who are perhaps too eager to help you. The decor is a European African theme and all rooms are decorated individually. Beautiful gardens allow you some time alone and away from it all.

They have a spectacular pool at the bottom end of the garden which overlooks the valleys below and is a welcome relief on those scorching African summer days. The lodge is basically a house that has been converted for guest accommodation. There are various little houses located around the gardens which guests stay in. One of the best features is a huge house which can accommodate groups or families.

Situated about 25 / 30km half way between Famous National Parks [ Ngorongoro and Manyara] the Lodge is a convenient stop-over to and from these key destinations. Other activities include Game, Walking and Cultural safaris.

There are a total of 14 double rooms of which 6 can be converted into triples. All the rooms are individually furnished in varying themes. The most interesting is room 5, the honeymoon suite. This room has a special shower/ jacuzzi bath which has millions of buttons for the various settings. It is highly recommended for a romantic night.

Further down the garden is the group house. If a group or family is traveling through Tanzania, then this is really recommended. There are 4 double suites, all en suite and a large dining room where the guests can have their meals. There are also facilities available for younger children.

Put up your base camp in the elegant jacaranda cottage and follow the tracks of Professor Grzimek. The adventure awaits you everyday. Start your daily trip safaris from the plantation lodge - cross the maasai markets and head towards the national parks.
