Tamarind Camp is a safari camp located on our privately owned concession just 15 minutes from the entrance to Tarangire National Park. Perfectly positioned in a grove of beautiful Acacia Tortilis trees and recently completely renewed, the camp is set in 200 acres of Acacia woodland and bush, which is constantly evolving into an ever more stunning setting, right on the boundary of the Park. Tarangire is the fourth biggest National Park in Tanzania and its very diverse habitats, supporting an equally rich variety of mammals, birds and flora, make it a delight to explore. Magnificent 1000-year-old giant Baobab trees punctuate the Park and large herds of elephant and other game seasonally swell the large numbers of resident game.
The tented accommodation is luxuriously comfortable and spacious with en-suite bathrooms and exquisite handcrafted hardwood furnishings. The tents are extremely well spread out and mostly face the adjacent Park boundary, marked only by a tree-lined “sand river”. Zebra and wildebeest are often to be seen grazing on the nearby plains and elephant and lion frequent the area around camp, as well as being regular visitors inside the camp itself!
The same level of care is extended to guests at Tamarind as at all Kirurumu’s other properties. The permanent camp crew take a great pride in providing a first class service with excellent and varied menus, served either in the insect-proof dining tent or al fresco around the campfire. The camp is also benefiting (in line with our policy) the local community ( Mosakini Village) through direct donations made proportional to client revenue. These payments have so far brought a new water line and supported the local school.

| Tamarind Camp is in a prime location to access Tarangire National Park, being only 15 minutes from the Park gate. Not being actually in the park is a major plus, meaning that many additional activities can be undertaken from the camp as well as game drives in Tarangire. Thus the following is all possible:
- Day and half day game drives in Tarangire NP (entrance 15 minutes from camp).
- Ethno-botanical guided walks (with local Maasai) in the immediate area, lasting from 1 to 5 hours.
- Night game drives.
- Cultural interaction with, and tours of, the village of Mosakini, which is in part supported by the camp.
