The camp sits within a private Conversation Area bordering Tarangire National Park. Covering an area of 2600 sq kilometers the National Park literally teems with wildlife throughout the year with a dense population during the dry season (June – October). Treetops’s unique location allows access to the game in an outside the park year round. Home to some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa and symbolized by the baobab tree the park is also an ornithologists paradise, rich in birds of prey.

This location allows the lodge to offer activities such as foot safaris, night game drives and mountain hiking that cannot, by law, be conducted inside the National Parks. Tarangire Treetops has 20 en suite tree house units each with a private verandah, restaurant and a bar, and a swimming pool overlooking the elephant watering hole far below.

Tarangire Treetops is located within the 57000 acre Tarangire Conservation Area straddling the wet-season migration route into the adjacent Tarangire National Park.

Located in the Tarangire Conservation Area, only eight km from Arusha, Tarangire Treetops is an innovative and original property.

The 20 giant thatched tree houses are built upon platforms amongst a cluster of Baobab, Mopani and Wild Fig Trees. Each tree house has an en suite shower and w/c together with a lounge area and private verandah. The rooms' walls are in fact flaps, which can be rolled up to create the feel of a true open tree house. Together with the mosquito nets over each bed and the plush duvets, you may never wish to leave your room.

The Baobab Bar is built around a gracious old Baobab and guests can enjoy cocktails whilst watching the incredible Tarangire sunsets. Leading off the bar, the dining area with its thatched roof and open sides is the perfect setting for the excellent cuisine. As it is located outside the Tarangire National Park, Treetops is able to offer activities such as foot safaris, night drives and mountain bike trails

Home to a unique ecosystem, the area has all the same species of wildlife as the Tarangire National Park, including buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and elephant. Huge herds of elephant frequent the site of the camp on their way to watering in the Sand River, ensuring year-round resident game. The establishment of this camp has also resulted in many developments for the village, including improved water facilities and a school, as a percentage of all visitors' lodging costs are donated to several village improvement schemes.

Now fully refurbished and re-opening in December 2002, Tarangire Treetops features 20 luxury en-suite rooms, built atop tree-attached platforms, overlooking the Tarangire Sand River. The camp has been superbly blended into the environment with the sleeping platforms built into a variety of Baobab, Mopani and Wild Fig trees. The dining area is situated close to the swimming pool and elephant water hole is an innovative and stunningly original property consisting of large tree houses built upon platforms amongst a cluster of Baobab, Mopani and Wild Fig Trees. Each en-suite unit has a private veranda and lounge area, with sweeping views over our private Conservation area.

The camp also offers the unique facility of night drives and game walks, including a special trail for mountain biking. Armed rangers whose knowledge of the bush is legendary accompany all ventures.
