Accomodation - Ruaha

Ruaha River Lodge

The Great Ruaha River is the lifeline of the Park; we can offer you the privilege of your own riverside 'banda' designed to blend seamlessly into the surroundings. The local stone and thatch room has minimal impact on the environment and game viewing from your veranda is a relaxing and enthralling option.

Ruaha lies in the convergence zone where northern and southern hemisphere mammals and migrant birds overlap. This results in an overwhelming number of different bird species (488 recorded species nearly half that found in the entire country) and over 1400 plant species which lead to a correspondingly large number of mammals. Jongomero Camp

For anyone seeking a true African wilderness experience, a visit to Ruaha National Park is essential. Although the second largest in Tanzania, the reserve is perhaps the least well-known and yet to connoisseurs it is without doubt one of the most spectacular in Africa.

Covering a conservation area of 10,300 square kilometres in the south-west of the country, Ruaha sprawls within and along the Great Rift Valley, covering a unique transition zone where the Eastern and Southern species of both fauna and flora meet against a dramatic topographical backdrop. More>>

Old Mdonya Camp

FScattered under the shade of large sycamore figs and Acacia albida, there are only 11 tents, each with its own toilette and shower. The tents are simple and comfortable, furnished with twin beds veiled by mosquito net and with large verandah where you can relax on a chaise lounge to observe wildlife around you. A small but great Adventure Camp , this is one of the newest and perhaps most exciting bush destinations in Tanzania. More>>
