BEYOND SAFARIS, UNIQUE THINGS TO DO IN TANZANIA
Aside the authentic wildlife experiences, the magnificent nature has given plenty of opportunities to explore and feel Tanzania. With high expectations from travellers and the urge to experience something off the radar, here are some unique things to do on your next visit to this rewarding destination.
Scenic flights to Kilimanjaro
If you ever wanted to get the closest to the mountain, without the effort to scale the ambitious heights, it is possible to experience the beauty of Mt. Kilimanjaro on special scenic flights. Witness the glorious heights from a vantage point at 21,000 feet; the volcanic peaks and glaciers that were formed 197,000 years ago. Enjoy this sky-high experience on a 50-minute helicopter or aircraft flight with your loved ones, around the highest peak of Africa.
Swim with the turtles
After an action-filled adventure in the safari parks, your next calling would most probably be on the island of Zanzibar. If you are on the Nungwi beach, do not forget to visit the Natural Aquarium, home to the delightful turtles. For a span of 40 minutes, you will get a chance to swim, feed and take photos and this intimate experience is truly special. Almost all turtles are rescued from the threats in the ocean and once they have recovered at this special care center they are released back.
Quad Biking off-the beaten path
Are you an adventure buff? Beyond game drives and hiking, a recent addition to the adventurous excursions in Tanzania is becoming a favourite of many. Travelers can now enjoy quad biking in the Northern Safari Circuit and in Zanzibar. Ride around the Ngorongoro Crater, on the foothills of Mt. Meru, in coffee farms and on unexplored paths in Zanzibar. With stunning scenic backdrops, village scenery and in proximity to the wilderness or the beach, this experience is certainly unique and recommended for family and large groups.
Ziplining above the wilderness
Have you heard about the Mto Wa Mbu Village, a famous home to local tribes of Tanzania? Besides offering authentic cultural tours, you have one more exciting reason to visit this cultural hotspot. Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley wall and with stunning views of the Maasai Steppe, lakes and the wetlands, you can now zipline across this stunning scenery. The new Tanzip Zipline Adventure has 6 unique platforms above the big baobab trees and show you the unique view of Tanzania!
Experience music and film fests
Sauti Za Busara and the Zanzibar Film Festival are two of our favourite events of the spice islands. These events give you the special chance to celebrate African culture at Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with talents from Africa. With event highlights such as carnival parade, local encounters and more than 400 artists performing during a week-long event, this special African music is certainly not to be missed!
