It was quite late in the morning while driving towards the hippo pool. As we got closer and closer, the smell of death intensified, with the curiosity of what had happened, overpowering the smell, we finally bared the smell and reached the hippo pool, to our amaze.
There we were, watching all the hippos in the pool motionless as they usually are, but still couldn’t figure out why the tense smell of death. Not long before we noticed a few hyenas on the opposite side of the bank taking a keen interest in the pool itself.
Hyenas would even swim to their food,
Slowly and cautiously, one hyena at a time slowly crossed into the pool and then started feeding on a huge hippo carcass !!! To our amaze, this didn’t agitate the other hippos who are very territorial usually. It was interesting to see, Hyenas would even swim to their food, despite of danger, this is the circle of life or you can say the strongest survives.
