Zarafa Tented Camp is a small, privately owned wilderness tented camp offering undisturbed and authentic African safari experience. It is built along the banks of Rufiji River, just 5 kilometers from the Mtemere Gate – Selous Game Reserve. The camp is for those with a special taste for solitude, in an exclusive bush ambience. There are 3 permanent tents and 1 Banda. A tent and a Banda occupy a double bed (6’ x 7’) and a single bed (3’ x 7’). The other two tents occupy a double bed. The total occupancy is for 10 adults. The tents/ banda are spacious and semi-luxury under the expansive makuti thatch structure traditionally styled with custom-made furniture and handcrafted African décor. The tents / banda areas are appox. 26sq meters and the bathroom areas are approx. 6sq meters. Rooms contain cupboard and a writing table with 2 chairs. Each tent/ banda has a private veranda accommodating 2 lazy chairs with the view over the Rufiji River. The doors and windows of the tents / banda are mosquito proof and they have excellent ventilation. En-suite bathroom with hot and cold ‘rainfall’ shower, flush toilet, hand wash basin, towels, soap, and bottled water Generator powered lighting operated at allocated hours of the day & solar lamps inside tents/ banda and the bathrooms. There is an outlet available in the tents / banda at 220V. Restaurant, Bar and Lounge Area Open sided, well stocked Bar with spectacular view of the river and sunset with thatched roof and rural African decor. The dining area is lit by candle and lamp light in the evenings. Meals are made with fresh ingredients and are served on a set menu. Candle/lamp light, Generator powered lighting and access to an electrical multi plug point of 220V for charging gadgets from 6pm – 10pm. Meals are served on a set menu. We are able to cater for special diets upon request. A selection of teas and coffee are available during evenings from the dining area upon request. The Massive Deck Area of Zarafa Tented Camp This area is above the restaurant under traditionally makuti thatched roof with a mixture of eco-friendly and wooden furniture. BandasTanzania safari The bandas are Stylish in design, smaller but also a more secure feeling netting ceilings still keep you close to nature.They have nice views of the river. They are a favourite with our regular customers. Riverside tentsTanzania safari-These are large and spacious giving you the feeling as if your right next to nature. They all have views directly onto the river. They all have ensuite bathrooms with showers and warm water. Guests can hear the sound of the bush babies and hippos during the night when the african bush comes alive Treetops these are smaller than the riverside tents but are more secluded in the middle of the bush high up on a platform.
