Mikumi Wildlife Camp one of the main features of our public area is a massive Marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea), estimated over 200 years old. Its ancient, wide canopy provides a romantic ceiling for our evening dinners under the open night skies. A cosy fireplace provides the perfect spot to go over the day’s events.
Our bar is intimate and bathed in that golden light during sunset hours: a real good spot to observe the setting sun with something cold at hand.
The six bandas, are recently renovated, as well as the lounge, the outside dining-area, the swimming pool and the bar. They all overlook the well-attended waterholes in front of the camp. These waterholes tend to get rather busy during the dry season, with zebra’s, elephants, buffalo and impala being regular visitors.
They say that a good property needs three things: Location, Location, Location well, we have all three!! Being right IN the park gives us a unique and beautiful view over the extensive savannah. The spectacular vista of “The Savannah of Light” can be soaked up from your room, private veranda, the bar, lounge, restaurant and even from our swimming pool. But be warned…. elephants have been seen drinking from it!
Since we have been here for so long and have never posed a threat to the wildlife we have become part of it Lions, leopard, buffalo and elephant can be seen or heard between the bandas at night. The plains are dotted with Sausage Trees, Tamarind Trees, Paperbark Acasias and hosts herds of elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra and impalas.
The open-air restaurant looks out over these plains and give you the most wonderful panoramic views. And the bar is a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunset.
