Arrive in Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport in the morning, meet and greet by Kearsleys Guide and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park with packed lunch for full day game viewing. Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favoured haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Later evening back to Karatu for dinner and overnight at your lodge. (L, D)
Early breakfast and begin your scenic journey to Serengeti National Park with packed lunch. Keep your eyes open for spotting all the wildlife. Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th natural wonder. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, where some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with your breakfast. Today you have the pleasure of adventure and hope for the best, to spot predators hunting. Rise and shine, it’s yet another adventure (make it as early as you can). Enjoy a lovely breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro and enjoy full day game drive in the crater with packed lunch. The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest un-flooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breath-taking natural wonder. Return late afternoon back to your lodge in time for sundowners, dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
